Student Financial Loan Default
Applicants who are in default on the
repayment of any loan guaranteed by the Louisiana Student Financial
Assistance Commission:
State law [LSA R.S. 17:3023(A)(8) and LSA
R.S. 37:2951(A)(E)] makes the default in repayment of loans guaranteed by
the commission grounds for the denial of the application for, or the
application of renewal of, a professional license. IF YOU ARE IN
DEFAULT OF REPAYMENTS OF SUCH A LOAN, your application for licensure
will be denied pending a determination and report by the Louisiana Student
Financial Assistance Commission concerning your compliance with the
repayment requirements of your loan.
If you have any questions concerning the
repayment status of your loan, do not contact LBEDN. Please direct all
inquiries to the Office of Student Financial Assistance, 1885 Wooddale
Blvd., Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70806, or call 225.922.1086 or toll free
1.800.256.6882.
If your application for licensure is denied
because of default in repayment of your loan, you should contact the
Office of Student Financial Assistance to determine your rights, including
your rights to a hearing under the Administrative Procedure Act, which
will be provided to you by that agency.
If your application for licensure otherwise
meets the criteria under the LBEDN Practice Act, your application for
licensure will be processed upon receipt by LBEDN of notice from the
Office of Student Financial Assistance of your compliance with the
repayment requirements of the loan.
